As an actress she is the most well-known and appreciated for the amazing role that she played in Xena. The role was originally meant to be played by the actress Vanessa Angel but ultimately went to Lucy because she was not able to join the filming due to illness. Based on the way the character was played and given justice to, the show later became one of the most favorites on TV during the time the series was airing along with other programs. Lucy's portrayal as Xena proved so successful that a sequel show was created in the year 1995. Lucy has gained a reputation as a popular actor due to the popularity of the spinoff. Apart from being referred to by her fans as Xena Lucy is known by the name Diane Lewis Swanson from NBC's famous sitcom Parks and Recreation where she was on the show from 2012 until 2015.
