Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would put her according to American standards, in the category of child prodigy. But for a person of Irish background, surrounded by talented parents and family members, those were not innate traits. Maureen arrived in this nurturing sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. Her family was her parents and family members. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin firm, as well as had shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen FitzSimons is the second child from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this amazing family. Maureen loved playing rough athletic games as a child and excelled at sports. Her natural ability to perform was a perfect complement to her love of athletics. She won almost every Feis Award for Drama and Theatre Performance that her country had to offer. The Abbey Theater was her first choice. Abbey Theater by age 14 as she was able to fulfill her goals of opera as well as classical theater and singing.
